At MooBoo Home, we understand that not everyone is able to come into our studio in person. That's why we offer a design service for those who can't come to us. Whether you live in the next town over or on the other side of the country, we can still help you get the perfect bespoke lighting for your home or business.

When we design with clients we use a number of different ways to communicate.

We might have a face-to-face meeting to get an initial sense of what the client is looking for, if you are able to come to the studio. If not we can have a chat on the phone, a video call or a WhatsApp conversation to flesh out the details. Our preferred method of communication is WhatsApp so that we can communicate quickly and keep our conversations together to make it easier to refer to throughout the design and making process. We will send you close up videos and photos of our timbers, as well as our progress whilst we are making your piece. We can even make a time lapse video of you lighting fixture being built which is a lovely way of keeping in touch with the process, and a nice keepsake for the future.

We might also use video conferencing or screen-sharing software to present our designs and get feedback in real-time.

Designing with us

Whichever method of communication we choose, our aim is always to get a clear understanding of the client's needs and expectations. We want to know what their vision for the project is, what kind of atmosphere they're hoping to create, and what practical considerations need to be taken into account. Once we have all of that information, we can start to create designs that we think will fit the bill. We will provide scale drawings so that you can better imagine the fixture in your space, and can provide plans for builders and electricians if you are having major renovation work done. Of course, effective communication goes both ways. Our clients need to be able to give us clear and concise feedback on our designs, so that we can make the necessary adjustments. We also need to be able to ask questions and get clarification when needed. Only by working together can we hope to create designs that the client will be happy with.

Australia

We know that getting timber into Australia can be tricky, but it can be done! We just need to make sure that we choose the right type of timber, something not too rustic and not showing any insect damage. We also need to be careful about the customs paperwork to ensure that we are transparent about our process, our protections and the origin of the wood. It's not impossible to ship our bespoke lighting to Australia, we just need to be fastidious in our process and with the paperwork and it should be smooth sailing for your lighting fixture.

USA and Canada

In North America, the standard voltage is 120 V (with a standard frequency of 60 Hz) rather than the 220 volts used in Europe, and as such we will use appropriate lighting components for that voltage. 

We will use US UNO thread lamp holders which are UL listed/recognised components, suitable for both the USA and Canada. UL File no. E227063. The bulb holder can be visually inspected to see the UL mark. The manufacturer states that ‘They are all of the highest quality and will ensure you can confidently supply first class luminaries into North America’.

Our fixtures are one of a kind items and we do not mass produce them, as each is different we cannot send a sample product off for testing, or each individual piece when complete. UL or ETL listing is almost always required by commercial building code, a lot of residential-grade lighting products will be neither UL nor ETL listed and it’s not a legal requirement.

Customers in the USA and Canada will need to purchase E26 110V light bulbs locally.
