Collection: Blacknut Guitars
Handmade guitars by Paul Jeffery
After a long career in fine woodworking and a lifetime of guitar playing, the penny finally dropped and it became obvious, even essential that Paul should start making guitars.
Blacknut guitars are handmade in Devon and are based on the “golden era” pre-war Martin guitars and are mostly the larger Dreadnought model.
Paul uses the highest quality materials; spruce fronts, mahogany or rosewood backs and sides with other parts made from ebony and bone.
The nut is the small raised section that keeps the strings in line on their way to the headstock. Traditionally made from bone, the nut on a Blacknut guitar is usually made from ebony. However, not all Blacknut guitars have black nuts!
The guitars are finished with French polish rather than a thick laquer to let the sound resonate and allow the wood to breathe, while retaining its natural woody beauty.
