Our wooden beam chandeliers are designed and handcrafted in our Devon studio, and this Smart Norwegian Spruce Chandelier combines one of our most characterful reclaimed timbers with discreet digital smart control.

A smart relay is included within the price and concealed within the top of the chandelier, so there is no visible smart technology to detract from the finished design. Once installed and connected, the chandelier can be controlled digitally from your phone or compatible smart device.

The result is all the warmth, character and individuality of a handcrafted reclaimed timber chandelier, with modern smart control quietly hidden away.

How does the smart chandelier work?

The digital smart relay is hidden within the top of the chandelier and forms part of the finished fixture.

Once connected to your smart system, it allows the chandelier to be switched on and off using your phone or compatible smart device rather than relying solely on a conventional wall switch.

IMPORTANT – PERMANENT POWER IS REQUIRED

For the smart relay to remain connected and available for digital control, the chandelier must have mains power supplied to it at all times.

If your existing wall switch is used to turn off the mains supply to the chandelier, this will also turn off the smart relay and the light will no longer be available for remote or smart control until mains power is restored.

We therefore recommend discussing the smart operation with your electrician before installation so that the chandelier is installed in a way that maintains permanent power to the smart relay.

The relay itself is discreetly incorporated into the chandelier – giving you smart functionality without changing the appearance or character of the light.

A Piece of British Brewing History

This gorgeous timber is Norwegian spruce reclaimed from the former Tiger Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent, which was demolished in 2017.

The spruce is approximately 22cm wide, although we can slim it down where required to better suit your space.

Please note: this timber has been beautiful to work with, but our remaining stock is now limited and we no longer have lengths over approximately 90cm. If you would like a longer chandelier, please get in touch and we can discuss alternative reclaimed timbers that we currently have available or may be able to source.

Every chandelier is individually designed to fit your space. We can recommend an appropriate timber length and number of bulbs according to the size and proportions of the room and the furniture beneath it.

The lengths and bulb quantities offered within this listing are the combinations on which the advertised prices are based. If you would prefer a different number of bulbs or configuration, please contact us for a bespoke quote.

Made to Measure for Your Home

This isn't an off-the-shelf chandelier.

You choose the individual piece of reclaimed timber we use, and we'll send you photographs and videos for approval before we begin.

The spruce can be left natural or stained using our range of timber finishes. If you'd like your chandelier to complement existing furniture or timber within your home, send us photographs taken in daylight without direct sunlight. We can then suggest suitable finishes, carry out colour tests on your chosen timber and send photographs or video for your approval.

You'll also choose your cable and components.

We have more than 200 colours and styles of Italian fabric-covered lighting cable available, alongside component finishes ranging from contemporary designs through to more traditional styles.

We finalise these choices with you as part of the design process.

Suspension & Ceiling Fixings

Our chandeliers are normally supplied with two individual ceiling hooks, which are included within the price.

Some of the listing photographs show a chandelier suspended using one central heavy-duty ceiling rose with four hooks. This particular arrangement was created because of the position of the existing roof timbers in the client's property.

If you would prefer the heavy-duty four-hook ceiling cap, this can be supplied for an additional £40.

Maximum Drop Included

The standard fixture price includes:

• Up to 50cm from the top of the timber to the ceiling

• Up to 50cm of lighting cable below the timber

As a guide:

50cm chain + 6cm timber depth + 50cm cable + bulb length = maximum standard drop

If you have higher ceilings or require a longer drop, that's no problem. Please contact us for a custom quote.

Additional chain is £15 per metre and additional cable is £6 per metre.

Bulbs

Bulbs are not included in the chandelier price as the cost varies depending upon the size, shape and style you choose.

You can browse our bulb collection separately, and we're also happy to try different bulbs in your completed chandelier and send you photographs before you make your final choice.

If you would like to take your smart lighting further, we also have smart bulb options available. Please talk to us about the functionality you would like from your finished lighting scheme and we can advise on suitable options.

Lead Time & Shipping

Every Smart Norwegian Spruce Chandelier is made to measure.

Once you place your order, we'll contact you to begin finalising the details, including your timber, finish, cable, components, dimensions and overall drop.

Our lead time varies depending on how busy our workshop is. If you're working towards a particular date, please check our current lead time in the Client Area before ordering.

Once we receive your order, you'll be added to our client queue. You can then use the Client Area to follow our current workload and see updates on your order's progress.

Measurements We'll Need

To design your chandelier, we'll ask you for:

• Your ceiling height

• The dimensions of the table, island or furniture beneath the chandelier – or confirmation that it needs to clear head height

• The height of the tallest person in the household

We can then prepare a scale drawing for you to approve before we begin wiring your fixture.

Installation

As this version incorporates a smart relay and requires a permanent mains supply for smart operation, we recommend installation by a suitably qualified electrician.

Please make sure your electrician understands that the smart relay requires continuous mains power. Switching off the electrical supply to the chandelier at a conventional wall switch will also disconnect the smart relay and prevent digital control until power is restored.

Technical Information

Fixtures made for use in the UK and Europe are supplied with 240V ES lamp holders.

Our chandeliers are earthed due to the use of metal lamp holders.

Indoor use only. This chandelier is not suitable for exterior use. If you require a fixture for outdoor use, please contact us to discuss suitable alternatives.
