Sometimes the lamp itself is absolutely perfect — it’s just the electrics that aren’t.

Perhaps it’s a favourite table lamp you've owned for years, something inherited from a family member, a vintage find, or simply a lamp that works beautifully in your home but has old, damaged or outdated wiring.

Our Lamp Rewiring & Restoration Service allows you to keep the lamp you love while we carefully remove the existing electrical components and replace them with new ones, ready to be enjoyed again.

We've worked on everything from traditional table lamps and floor lamps to vintage and unusual pieces, including world globe lamps. Because every lamp is different, we strongly recommend getting in touch before placing your order, particularly if you're not local to us.

Send us some photographs — and ideally a short video — and we can take a look at your lamp, discuss what's needed and give you a much better indication of the likely cost and timescale before you send it to us.

What does the basic rewiring service include?

The price shown on this listing is our starting price for a straightforward lamp rewire where we don't encounter any unusual construction or complications.

The basic service includes removal of the existing electrical components as required and replacement with suitable new components, including:

• New lampholder where required
• Up to 2 metres of fabric-covered electrical cable
• Standard on/off switch
• Plug
• Reassembly, electrical testing and finishing

You'll also be able to choose from our extensive range of beautiful fabric cable colours, so the new wiring can become part of the design rather than simply something functional.

Would you like your lamp to dim?

We can fit a suitable dimmer rather than a standard on/off switch where the lamp and chosen bulb are compatible.

Dimmer upgrades start from an additional £35.

We'll advise you on the appropriate option for your particular lamp.

Longer cable lengths

Our basic rewiring price includes up to 2 metres of cable.

If your lamp requires a longer cable — perhaps for a floor lamp or because of where it sits within your room — that's absolutely fine. Additional cable will simply be charged according to the length and cable style chosen.

Cleaning & refinishing

Sometimes the electrics aren't the only part that could benefit from a little attention.

Depending on the material and condition of your lamp, we may also be able to offer cleaning, restoration or refinishing of the lamp body while it's with us.

This isn't included within the basic rewiring price and will be quoted separately once we've seen the lamp and understand what you'd like us to achieve.

We really do recommend contacting us before purchasing this service.

Every lamp is constructed differently. Some are wonderfully straightforward to work with; others need considerably more dismantling, adaptation or specialist components than you might expect from looking at them.

If you're local, you're very welcome to bring your lamp into our Cockington Court studio for us to take a look.

If you're further away, send us photographs and, if possible, a short video showing the lamp from all sides, the existing cable, switch, lampholder and underneath/base of the lamp. We'll then be able to advise you about what is likely to be involved, the approximate overall cost and our current timescale.

The price on this page should therefore be considered a starting price for a straightforward, uncomplicated rewire, rather than a fixed price for every lamp.

Keep the lamp. Replace what it needs.

We're big believers in keeping good things going.

A lamp doesn't necessarily need replacing because its wiring has failed or become outdated. And when that lamp has sentimental value — perhaps because it belonged to someone you love or has simply been part of your home for decades — replacing it isn't really the point.

Wherever possible, we'd much rather repair, rewire and refresh what you already have, so it can continue being part of your home for many more years.
