An old camera can hold a lifetime of memories — family holidays, weddings, childhood photographs, places visited and moments captured. And yet, when it's no longer used, something so meaningful can easily end up tucked away in a cupboard or a box.

Our Legacy Camera Lamp gives those treasured objects a new purpose.

We take your own vintage cameras and transform them into a completely unique table lamp: something useful, beautiful and full of history that can become part of your home and be enjoyed every day for years to come.

The lamp pictured was created for a client using cameras that had belonged to her dad. Rather than leaving those memories packed away, we carefully transformed the cameras into something that could become part of her everyday home — while preserving their history and character.

Made slowly, because these objects matter

We understand that the cameras you send to us may be completely irreplaceable. They might have belonged to a parent or grandparent, travelled the world with someone you love, or captured decades of family memories.

We treat them accordingly.

Creating a Legacy Camera Lamp isn't simply a case of stacking cameras together. Each camera needs to be carefully assessed, partially dismantled and prepared so that the electrical components can pass safely through the body. This involves carefully drilling and adapting the cameras themselves, before constructing and wiring the finished lamp.

It is intricate work and we don't rush it.

We take a great deal of time and care at every stage, particularly when we're working with objects that carry enormous sentimental value. The oak base is then made specifically for your collection, and the cameras are carefully positioned and assembled to create a balanced finished piece.

These lamps take time to make because the things entrusted to us deserve that time.

What's included in this listing

The price shown is for a bespoke lamp created using two or three cameras supplied by you, including:

• Two or three of your own cameras incorporated into the design
• A solid oak base, individually sized and made to suit the proportions of your finished lamp
• Lampholder and electrical components
• 1.75 metres of fabric-covered cable
• Your choice of cable colour from our extensive range
• Design, construction, wiring and testing in our Devon workshop

Bulb not included, allowing you to choose the finishing touch from our wide range of decorative bulbs.

Please note: Creating your lamp requires us to permanently alter the cameras, including dismantling and drilling them to accommodate the wiring and construction. We carry out this work with great care, but the cameras will no longer be usable as cameras afterwards.

Have more — or fewer — cameras?

Absolutely.

Every collection of cameras is different, so we can create a design using one, two, three or more cameras. The size of the oak base, construction and overall design will be adapted accordingly.

This listing is specifically priced for a three-camera lamp. If you'd like us to create something using a different number of cameras, please get in touch for a personalised quotation before ordering.

Don't have family cameras?

You don't need to have inherited a collection to fall in love with this design.

If you simply love the look of a vintage camera lamp, there are countless old cameras available through marketplaces such as eBay, antique shops, flea markets and reclamation sellers. You can put together your own collection, have the cameras sent to us, and we'll turn them into a completely individual lamp.

We particularly love the idea of choosing cameras from different periods and styles to create something with real character.

Sending your cameras to us

Your cameras will need to be securely packaged and sent to our Devon workshop before we begin making your lamp. Shipping your cameras to us is your responsibility and isn't included in the listing price.

Once we've received them, we'll consider their individual sizes, shapes and proportions before determining the best arrangement and making the oak base specifically for your lamp.

We'll also contact you to confirm your cable colour and other finishing choices before making begins.
